Steps towards Perfection
The book The Steps towards Perfection introduces three lectures by Swami Abhedananda concerning the ultimate human goal: God-consciousness or Mukti.
The core of the book explores seven spiritual steps. While the first six steps serve as necessary preparation, the seventh step represents the pinnacle—the path of spiritual illumination known as Brahmanubhuti (Divine realization). Abhedananda describes this final stage as the "highest nature" of a human being flowing like a mighty, unstoppable river toward the "ocean of the Absolute."
Crucially, the text emphasizes that this state of perfection is not a distant afterlife promise but a reality that can be attained within our current mundane lives. It sets the stage for a practical journey toward spiritual liberation.
