Sandilya Bhakti Sutra
The Śāṇḍilya Bhaktisūtras, an ancient work of the Bhāgavata school. Modeled after Bādarāyaṇa’s Brahmasūtras, the book is noted for its polemical nature and focus on spiritual discipline (sādhanā).
It highlights two major bhāṣyas (commentaries): one by Svapneśvara (c. 900 AD), considered a pioneering authority, and another by Nārāyaṇa Tīrtha (c. 1700 AD).The original sūtras and Svapneśvara’s commentary were translated into English in 1969, featuring annotations that compare his views with Śaṅkara. Originally published by the University of Mysore (1976), the book was recently republished by the Ramakrishna Order to meet steady scholarly demand.
