History of Science in India: An Introduction
This Publisher’s Note introduces a multi-volume series titled "Introduction to History of Science in India," published to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and the centenary of the Indian Science Congress Association.
The text highlights Vivekananda’s significant role in bridging science and spirituality, noting his influence on Nikola Tesla and his inspiration in founding premier institutions like the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the Bose Institute.
A collaborative effort between the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) and the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, this 11-volume project aims to make the history of Indian science accessible to general readers. The note concludes with acknowledgments for the editors, contributors, and monastic members who facilitated the publication's release in early 2015.
