Dharma
The word Dharma derived from the root dhṛ ("to uphold, support, or sustain"), refers to the foundational principle that keeps the universe from falling apart. From this perspective, it represents the supreme essence of being (or God). Depending on the context, it translates to religion, law, duty, or a moral code of conduct. It encompasses religious rites, social customs, legal rules, and the specific duties or privileges tied to a person's stage of life and social status.Ultimately, any way of life or conduct that helps reveal an individual's true, inner spiritual essence is considered Dharma.
