The Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission recognize the growing need for value-based education in India. Inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s ideals, they aim to develop students’ character, intelligence, and moral strength alongside academic knowledge. Their value-education programme uses storybooks to cultivate truthfulness, patriotism, self-sacrifice, independent thinking, devotion, and a sense of duty towards parents, teachers, and society. These stories encourage students to realize their inner potential and understand the importance of purity, concentration, and meditation. The books were introduced experimentally in schools in several states for students of classes 6 to 9. On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary, the series was offered at a subsidized price to make value-based education accessible to young minds.
